Live Your Divine Potential
Paula Whang-Ramos
“Spiritual practice is not something we do to become spiritual. It is how we live
as the spiritual beings we are - expressing our divine potential through our thoughts, speech, and actions.”
~Yogacharya Ellen Grace O’Brian, The Jewel of Abundance, p. 61
Kriya Yoga reveals to us the truth of our being – as individualized units of divine consciousness, we already are divinely spiritual. There is nothing we need to do to become more spiritual, worthy, or whole. Our purpose in life is to remember this truth and to live in the reality of our spiritual nature.
As yogis, we realize that our spiritual life is not separate from our daily earth life. Rather, our spiritual life is the underlying foundation that informs and inspires the quality and depth of our relationships, careers, daily activities, and even the way in which we care for these body/mind instruments through which Spirit flows. Our spiritual consciousness can guide our thoughts, words, and actions to live in the highest way. When we abide in our limitless divine potential, we can live in harmony with Spirit’s ever-present grace, as we experience Its peace, wisdom, love, and joy overflowing into our daily lives.

Free To Be
Paula Whang-Ramos
“Our frames of likes and dislikes color our perceptions, and if we are not aware of them, they obscure our ability to be open to possibility.”
~Yogacharya Ellen Grace O’Brian, The Jewel of Abundance, p. 169
In Yoga, our personal likes and dislikes are considered attachments and aversions of the mind. We can be so habituated to these mental processes that they become automatic, unconscious reactions to life’s events and situations. Without a deeper awareness of the power of these mental habits, we can become captive to them in our daily lives. Unable to consciously respond, we risk living our lives from the limitations of our reactive minds, and we miss the divine opportunities of peace, love, and joy in the present moments of our lives.
In meditation, we learn to disengage from our thoughts and mental habits. This allows us to observe our likes and dislikes without clinging to them or allowing them to continue to control our life choices. When we gain insight into our attachments and aversions, we can open to divine possibilities and guidance from our inner peace and wisdom. As we move beyond our preconceptions, new opportunities for joy, love, and understanding reveal themselves to us. We are free to be all we can be in the wholeness of the soul.

Open Into The Self
Paula Whang-Ramos
“With the skills of superconscious meditation, we learn to direct our attention at will, hone our power
of discernment, and inwardly attune to higher guidance.” ~Yogacharya Ellen Grace O’Brian, The Jewel of Abundance, p. 121
In superconscious meditation, we return to the breath again and again as we learn to quiet the busy mind. We maintain an upright and steady posture to enhance the flow of vital force. We focus on the spiritual eye, the point just above and between the eyebrows, to support our inward journey.
These steps bring us back to our Self where our inner wisdom resides. With steadfast practice, the constructive benefits of meditation can linger long after we conclude our session. Meditation can help us develop positive habits to support our highest good in our daily lives. We can cultivate contentment, peace, compassion, and joy. These qualities can be revealed from within us every day, even during challenging or unplanned circumstances.
As one of the foundational practices of Kriya Yoga, superconscious meditation opens us to the infinite presence of Spirit, the Source that guides, supports, and nurtures us at all times. As we deepen our consciousness and the awareness of our unlimited and unbounded spiritual nature, we grow in trust, faith, and the inherent understanding of higher wisdom at the core of our being.

Our Unchanging Perfection
Paula Whang-Ramos
“As we view and experience the landscape of our life where everything changes, we can take a breath
and acknowledge the unchanging perfection at the core.” ~Yogacharya Ellen Grace O’Brian, The Jewel of Abundance, p. 177
One of the practical benefits of Kriya Yoga is learning how to gracefully live with change. We only need to look at our bodies as we age to know change is a real part of life. Our minds and opinions change too, sometimes within minutes. Rather than fight or deny change, in Kriya Yoga, we learn how to experience change while regaining and maintaining our inner balance, harmony, and soul focus.
Although the circumstances and events of our lives change, our underlying spiritual nature remains whole, peaceful, changeless, and serene. The soul is not affected or compromised by aging bodies, changing minds, or earth-life challenges. The joy and peace of the soul are unlimited and ever-present. We know this to be true because we experience this joy and peace in our daily meditation.
When faced with life’s changes and surprises, pause, breathe, and go within. Rely on your meditation practice to experience the stillness and peace of the soul and the rightness of your life in this moment.

Living Free In Kriya Yoga
Paula Whang-Ramos
“Our greatest wealth is our awakened consciousness, realization of the unbounded truth of our essential Self and, through it,
our interconnection to all of life.” ~Yogacharya Ellen Grace O’Brian, The Jewel of Abundance, p. 26
When we first hear the teachings of Kriya Yoga, we learn that the truth of our being is more than the mind/body. We learn that we are the unlimited and eternal soul that enlivens the mind/body. We discover that we are all individualized aspects of the Source of all life and that we are connected in Oneness to everything that exists. Like the wave and the ocean, we are inseparable from the Source and each other.
We test the principles of this spiritual path in the laboratory of our own lives. Our daily meditation practice becomes foundational to our tranquility, equanimity, and well-being. With steadfast study and practice, we become less reactive and more peaceful as we follow the teachings of Kriya Yoga. We wake up and live in the wholeness and joy of our soul, knowing our every action is guided and supported by an enlivening and nurturing power.
To support you in your journey in Oneness, we invite you to join us onsite at BLC for a Kriya Yoga Meditation Seminar with Initiation next weekend, September 7th and 8th from 1-5pm. This 2-day event will deepen your practice and renew you spiritually. See home page for more information and to register.
