We Have The Power To Choose
Paula Whang-Ramos

"Real peace in our lives cannot be created; it has no cause. It is an unconditional spiritual quality that is innate to the soul."
~Yogacharya Ellen Grace O'Brian, Living For The Sake Of The Soul, p. 35

Kriya Yoga practices, including superconscious meditation, can weaken mental reactions and habits so we can directly experience our soul's unshakable inner peace. As the inner voice of the small-minded ego becomes less pronounced, the expansive light of inner peace shines through. When we remain steadfast and surrendered in our daily spiritual practices, their beneficial effects can carry over into our daily lives.

We can experience the soul's inner peace as: calmness where we used to react in fear, clarity where we used to react in confusion, courage in situations where we used to react in complacency, and even gratitude for what emerges after loss. And when we do experience fear, confusion, complacency, or grief, we do not have to choose to let those ego qualities define us. Instead, we can repeatedly and intentionally choose to have our daily thoughts, words, and actions informed by the soul's calmness, clarity, and courage.

When we live from the soul, we realize our innate fortitude to do what we know we should do, right the wrongs, and course correct our life choices to reveal the peace we are and deserve. Our lives no longer have to be mindless, habitual reactions to the winds of change. We have the power to choose to live anchored in the peace and dignity of the soul. Our choice impacts the current and future quality of our life. As we live with the winds of change today, what will we choose?

The Power Of A Pause
Paula Whang-Ramos

"Guidance for healthy living shines continuously from the wisdom of the soul, yet sense attachments
and their friends, self-will and habit, may overshadow it. Pause for a moment to seek the soul's wisdom before taking action
."
~Yogacharya Ellen Grace O'Brian, Living For The Sake Of The Soul, p. 20

Fear, willfulness, and likes and dislikes are sense attachments of the ego that can obscure the clarity of our divine wisdom. From this narrow perspective of the mind, we can miss opportunities to hear inner guidance.

Pausing to listen to the soul’s wisdom is living from the inside out. It’s living from the core of our being, our spiritual center, and allowing that wisdom to direct our thoughts, words, and actions. By pausing, we give ourselves space to align with our essential nature as unlimited, spiritual beings. From this deeper awareness, our soul wisdom stands ready to guide us into that which serves our highest good, gently reminding us of our courage, resilience, and joy. Today, let’s pause from time to time and listen to our souls speaking to us.

Soul Vision
Paula Whang-Ramos

"Discovering the sacred in our life requires fresh eyes - seeing things as they are and not as we think, want,
or assume them to be. The ability to transform our lives and our relationships is contained in something as simple as the way we perceive
."
~Yogacharya Ellen Grace O'Brian, Living For The Sake Of The Soul, p. 6

When we live from the expectations of the ego, we are sometimes disappointed when life doesn’t conform to our plans. We can even increase the difficulty of facing real life challenges when we react to them from the assumptions and habits of the mind. In Kriya Yoga, we can make a different choice. Instead of reacting from the mind, we can turn to the power and wisdom of the soul for “fresh eyes” and allow discernment to guide our thoughts, desires, and actions.

As we learn to approach each moment with the “fresh eyes” of the true Self, we realize that our very essence is already inherently wise, unlimited, and affirming. With steadfast spiritual practice, our perceptions and actions mature as we learn to live in service to our best and highest good. We can learn to live free from the mental barriers of the ego, and open into a life lived in the joy, peace, and wholeness of the radiant soul. Is there a circumstance in your life right now, where can you benefit from the perspective of “fresh eyes”?

Carried In Grace
Paula Whang-Ramos

"The first discipline of faith is to notice divine support… When you see it, do not ignore it or brush it off.
Lift it up. Magnify it - let it bring peace to your mind and joy to your heart
."
~Yogacharya Ellen Grace O'Brian, Living For The Sake Of The Soul, p. 34

Divine support, or grace, is present everywhere around us even during times of earthly difficulty, loss, or challenge. As part of our yoga practice, we can actively seek grace by taking a centering breath and acknowledging all the times we have been and are supported. We can ask, “Where has grace revealed itself to me today?”, and notice all the subtle and profound ways that divine support has appeared. Awareness of synchronicities, insights, and timely intuitive whispers remind us that the flow of grace still carries us.

Enthusiastically accept and celebrate every experience of divine support. When we celebrate something, we honor and praise it. Celebrating occurrences of grace acknowledges and reinforces our connection to the Source and aligns us with the power, wisdom, and peace of the soul. Allow the ever-present actions of grace to uplift you. Affirm your grace-filled moments with gratitude and joy!

The Moment Is Now
Paula Whang-Ramos

"Today is the day to begin again. The past is gone; this is your day to be fully awake."
~Yogacharya Ellen Grace O'Brian, Living For The Sake Of The Soul, p. 17

Each day holds the seeds of a new beginning. As skillful spiritual practice, we can actively seek divine wholeness and grace in this present moment - right now. In every life circumstance, no matter how unexpected or challenging, we can consciously choose to turn toward our innate enlightenment to guide our thoughts, words, and actions. We can choose, again and again, to live from our already awakened soul wholeness.

Because the truth is, at the level of our soul, we are already whole, complete, and awake. As we claim our spiritual birthright and all the power and wisdom of divine possibility that it offers, we transform our lives from merely surviving into fabulously thriving. We can step into divine grace and allow it to help us awaken into the joy, peace, and wisdom of the soul. Why wait? The moment is now.
