Be Free
Paula Whang-Ramos

"A person who is free from reactivity is free to respond - free to enjoy, free to engage, free to serve, free to love,
and free to be happy without any external cause
.” ~Yogacharya Ellen Grace O’Brian, The Jewel of Abundance, p. 35

Reactivity is a product of the ego that desires circumstances to be a certain way. When the ego gets its way, it is happy. When it does not, it is sad. Living from the reactive ego can feel like we live on an emotional roller coaster. Our daily meditation practice helps us develop the ability to maintain our inner equilibrium regardless of the curves that life gives us. In superconscious meditation, we return again and again to abide in the peace of the soul. Instead of reacting in ways that don’t serve us and our spiritual progress, we learn to become responsive to life based on Self-awareness and the knowledge of our divine, eternal nature.

When we live from the Self, we learn to approach events from inner equanimity, love, and peace. These soul qualities help us weather the storms we face in our daily lives. And during moments of ego reactivity, these soul qualities serve as inner guideposts to return to the Self. Our steadfast superconscious meditation practice helps us learn to inwardly listen and follow the grace-filled unfoldment of life. When we realize we are always divinely supported and guided, we are free to live our lives in the everlasting peace and freedom of the soul.

A Path To Higher Ground
Paula Whang-Ramos

"Being in the flow of life’s abundant blessings begins with our own energetic flow…
It’s up to us to be masters of our energy; no on else can do that for us
.”
~Yogacharya Ellen Grace O’Brian, The Jewel of Abundance, p. 112, 109

When life comes at us fast, it can be easy to forget that we still have the power to choose how to respond. But we do have the power to choose a higher way, even during the lowest of circumstances.

As spiritual practice, we can learn to use those challenging opportunities to inwardly reconnect with the divine power that enlivens our mind/bodies and our lives. Our daily meditation practice can help us remember the power of silence to inwardly reveal what is truly important. We can reclaim response-ability over our thoughts, words, and actions as we study and live into the practices of Kriya Yoga. And, best of all, we can remember that we are always carried in the Source of power and joy that is waiting to guide us into our best lives now. Join me at CSE this Sunday when I offer the Satsang message and share the results of my "unscientific spiritual experiment" on the best practices to use to be the masters of our energy in the flow of the Source of life.

A Soulful Shift
Paula Whang-Ramos

"At the end of the day, instead of focusing on failures, reflect on your successes.”
~Yogacharya Ellen Grace O’Brian, The Jewel of Abundance, p. 144

In this tradition of Kriya Yoga, it is important to remember that it is the ego, and not the unlimited soul, that judges our actions and their results as “successes” or “failures”. That which the ego labels as "mistakes, obstacles, and disappointments", can be experienced as divine opportunities to remember and to grow more deeply into our essential Wholeness - to the best of our ability. One of our sacred texts, the Bhagavad Gita (3:35) encourages us to do our own duty, even if imperfectly, rather than the duty of another perfectly, in order to experience these opportunities for growth and increased consciousness.

When we follow soul wisdom, instead of ego's judging mind, we learn to focus on our successes and our thoughts, words, and actions that contribute to our spiritual growth. Simply asking, “What went well?”, at the end of the day invites us to celebrate our accomplishments. This simple consciousness-shifting question helps us claim the direct experience of our achievements, recognize progress where it has occurred, and silence the inner critic. We embrace positivity and align with our soul nature which is that of joy, peace, and perfection.

Come Home To Your Self
Paula Whang-Ramos

Meditation practice is not aimed at acquiring or attaining anything.
It is consciously abiding in the fullness of what we are - simply being present now.”
~Yogacharya Ellen Grace O’Brian, The Jewel of Abundance, p.117

In this tradition of Kriya Yoga, we do not meditate for the sake of meditation. We don’t meditate for stress reduction, although meditation can help us to better cope with the stressors in our lives. We don’t meditate to become healthier, although meditation can have a positive impact on our well-being. And we don’t meditate to become more spiritual since our true nature is already spiritual, perfect, whole, and complete.

Instead, we practice superconscious meditation to access the peace, joy, and inner wisdom that already resides in our soul, and we invite those qualities to overflow from within us into the normal course of our days. Beyond the changing body and mind, we awaken to our unchanging, authentic spiritual presence, as powerful individualized and eternal lights of Consciousness. Through a daily meditation practice, we realize the perfection of our soul and how to live in our essential wholeness. We come home to our Self.

“If anything disturbs your peace, practice having faith that divine grace is already actively at work restoring wholeness and well-being.

Then make any necessary adjustments in harmony with that insight.”
