Two Loving Companions On Our Journey
Paula Whang-Ramos
"The journey of spiritual awakening includes times of forgetting the truth of our being as well as times of remembering."
~Yogacharya Ellen Grace O'Brian, The Jewel of Abundance, pg. 73
When we first learn about the powerful, beautiful Wholeness in which we live and breathe and have our being, we may be very inspired to consciously live in Its unconditional peace, love, and wisdom. Then we lose our car keys when we are already late for work, and we mumble unloving comments about ourselves. Or another driver dangerously cuts in front of us on the freeway, and we react in an unpeaceful way. On occasion, we have all emotionally reacted, instead of wisely responded to unexpected change, right? As our spiritual practice, we don't just attend to our reactivity. We also focus on how we can return our attention to the remembrance of our Wholeness.
Compassion, and not judgment, helps us realize moments of forgetfulness as divine invitations to return to our indwelling Wholeness. Because it takes time, patience, and repeated opportunities to reclaim the inner terrain of our essential divinity. In compassion for ourselves and others, we stop seeking inner peace, love, and wisdom outside ourselves as we remember what we are. Our daily meditation practice helps us consciously turn our attention and awareness within, as we learn to make space in our hearts for our own inner arrival. Compassion and meditation are two loving companions on our journey of divine remembrance.

Which Life Will You Choose?
Paula Whang-Ramos
“Get the ‘little you’ out of the way and let the ‘cosmic you’ prevail.”
~Mr. Roy Eugene Davis, Life Surrendered In God: The Kriya Yoga Way Of Soul Liberation,
Yoga Sutra 1.4 commentary
Prior to stepping on the path of Kriya Yoga in earnest, we may falsely believe that our lives are defined by our thoughts, feelings, opinions, roles, experiences, and memories. From this narrow view, we risk basing our hopes and full life potential on the limitations of the mind’s perceptions. In the limitless Wholeness of Yoga, what we think we are and what we actually are, are not the same. This is good news!
Kriya Yoga offers a philosophy and set of ancient, time-tested practices to help us lay down our stories of limitation. Beneath the noisy stories in the mind, our daily practice of superconscious meditation opens us into an inner space for the direct experience of our wholeness. Additional daily practices can help us live spiritually conscious lives in the unchanging, unapologetic power, presence, and wisdom that lives through us all. All are invited to join us at BLC for a time of study and practice of Kriya Yoga and superconscious meditation. Give yourself an opportunity to experience the life you took birth for.

Choose Faith Over Fear
Paula Whang-Ramos
“An Enlivening Power is nurturing the universe and we can learn to cooperate with It."
~Mr. Roy Eugene Davis
Did you ever notice how difficult it is to think clearly when we are scared? Fear can shrink our intelligence into the reptilian part of the brain that sees every unexpected or uncontrollable change as a threat to our very existence. During those moments when we most need clarity and wisdom to navigate through a life challenge, fear instead offers confusion, emotional reactivity, and perspectives distorted by our overwhelmed mind. Even after the difficulty subsides, the habituated mind can repeatedly relive or even defend against that stressor, feeding the delusion that the “threat” to our lives is still present, when it is not, and maybe never was.
The study and practice of Kriya Yoga teaches us a completely different way to experience unexpected and uncontrollable change in our lives. Whether it is Mother Nature expressing Herself in our communities, or a health issue expressing itself in our bodies, Kriya Yoga offers a philosophy and numerous practices to help us learn to choose to consciously respond, instead of emotionally react to these unexpected or undesired circumstances. Our daily meditation practice offers the direct experience that we are not our thoughts and emotions, regardless of how powerful or persistent they may feel. And, living the Kriya Yoga life brings our thoughts, words, and actions into alignment with the divine intelligence experienced in our meditation practice.
When we look back on 2023, do we want our life to be an overflowing expression of the faith and harmony of the Enlivening Power that nurtures us all the time? Or, do we want our life to be a series of stories following fear? Regardless of what we choose, you are invited to join us at BLC. Give yourself an opportunity to experience how the Enlivening Power divinely and uniquely flows through you this year.

Renewed With Meditation
Paula Whang-Ramos
“Above all, be steadfast in meditation. It is the boat that carries us across the river of delusion and
keeps us from being lost in the whirlpools of anxious thought.”
~Yogacharya Ellen Grace O’Brian, CSE Daily Inspiration, 10/24/2020
The New Year is a perfect time to establish or refine a daily meditation practice. A daily practice can help us experience more clarity, inner balance, emotional calmness, physical relaxation, peace, and joy. We can also learn to reduce our reactivity to stress, mental distraction, emotional reactivity, and regrettable choices. When we do react unskillfully, the positive effects of a daily practice can help us restore harmonious even-mindedness.
Superconscious Meditation is the ancient practice that Paramahansa Yogananda brought to the USA 102 years ago. The power of a daily Superconscious Meditation practice is experienced when we go beyond all these transitory mental states, and learn to directly experience the deep Source of Wholeness, peace, and joy that indwells us all. With consistent study and practice, we also learn how this indwelling divine power, presence, and wisdom can inspire our daily life experiences and choices, in between our meditation sittings. If you think this would be a great way to live into 2023, then join us at CSE and BLC to learn, practice, and share these uplifting practices in community with other like-minded souls. We will save a seat for you!

Living Free In 2023
Paula Whang-Ramos
"Make new determinations as to what you are going to do and what you are going to be in this next year.
Set a program for yourself; carry it through, and you will find how much happier you will be."
~Paramahansa Yogananda, New Year's Talk 01/01/1934
In addition to any earthly goals that we may set this new year, I invite us to listen more deeply into 2023. What could our lives be like if we lived a little more from the freedom of the soul, and a little less from the limitations of the mind? Do we hear the inner call to remember and reclaim our innate spiritual integrity and wholeness? Are we inwardly guided to learn to live free from the tyranny of the mind? Perhaps we are beginning to hear the still small voice within, ready to reveal innate divine wisdom right now?
If you are interested in consciously entering into 2023, join Yogacharya O’Brian at CSE this afternoon. Experience a joy-filled, restorative time immersed in meditation, teachings, and ancient practices to remove mental obstacles, so we can listen and live into a fulfilling, spiritually guided 2023. Yogacharya will offer a ritual for the conscious entry into the new year to cultivate deeper lives in the peace, joy, and wisdom we took birth for. Join us at CSE online or onsite and begin anew! Please see below to register for this gathering.

Then make any necessary adjustments in harmony with that insight.”
